Mindfulness Movement and Relaxation

Amber Young will be leading the January session of our Wednesday night yoga series.

Join us Wednesday nights, January 9th – 30th, from  6:00 – 7:15pm

Mindfulness is a practice to cultivate awareness, and to train ourselves to live in the present moment, right here in this breath.

Bringing mindfulness practices into our lives, we provide ourselves with a foundation in which we find a calmer mind, a more comfortable body, and an increased ability to let go of stress and relax more fully into our life exactly as it is, in this moment.  We can’t force this experience, it is a gentle unlayering and repatterning which starts with our attitude and the way we approach our practice and in time, our life.

In this 4-week series Amber will be guiding you through gentle mindful movement, breathing exercises which will support a healthier nervous system, relaxation sessions and mindful awareness exercises to bring you deeper into the present moment.

Mindfulness as a daily practice, helps us to release stress, both the physical and the mental manifestations of how stress affects us in body and mind.

“When you are in the present moment and truly let go of the past and the future, and step out of the stream of thinking, the experience is of timelessness.  Even a few moments by clock time can be restorative because timeless moments are liberating moments.  There is no place to go, nothing to do.  You are momentarily released from the press of time and obligations and can enter into the experience of being whole and complete and at the same time part of a larger wholeness and interconnectedness……..” (Myla and Jon Kabat-Zinn)

“Sometimes the world pulls you in  a direction which, in your heart, you do not wish to go.  When you take the time to center yourself daily, you retouch the place of clarity within.  You begin breathing deeply and fully from the source of your being and tapping the power necessary to live your life out of integrity.” (Thomas Crum)
