Please join us Wednesday nights, April 10th and April 17th from 6 – 7:15pm.
Amber will be offering our next mini-series focused on the area around our heart and our lungs. She will be guiding you through postures and pranayama to stretch and soften the chest, shoulders and neck.
We often find our bodies holding onto unhealthy postural patterns, due to our high levels of stress and habits, especially when we spend so much of our time on computers, at desks or driving to and from work. We ask so much of our bodies on a daily basis and often hold ourselves in very restricted and constricted patterns, but rarely give ourselves the focus and attention we need to reverse these patterns and return to a healthy, more functional state of being.
When our upper bodies are tight and tense, our lymphatic system suffers as a result of compression from the muscles and fascia. We can also end up with abnormal breathing patterns, pain and neurological dysfunction in the arms, hands, shoulders and neck. When we look at our bodies anatomically, we also have pivotal mirror points – our hips often mirror our shoulders, our diaphragm and our jaw. We aren’t distinctive parts, this two-week series will focus on bringing our parts back together and releasing the areas that restrict us and hold us back.
This series will be a balance of getting to know the anatomy of our upper body and the relationship to our bodies as a whole, learning remedial exercises, hatha postures, and some longer holding restorative postures to release deep tension. Each class will be stand alone, but participating in both sessions is highly recommended.
As the spring approaches, we want to open around our heart centre to allow all the new energy and opportunities to flow in! We hope to see you at one or both of these sessions.
This series is a shorter series of only 2 weeks. You can use your regular class pass or drop in for either of the evenings. The cost for a drop – in is $16 (HST inclusive)
Please contact the studio directly at 613-451-2891 or email info@suryadaya.ca, if you have any questions. Sign up is not necessary, but please come early to settle into the space.
