Core Strengthening Mini Series this May

Get to know your core – a mini series focused on core strengthening with Lynne

The core muscles are the foundation for all movement and posture. Without a strong core the potential for injury from exercise and everyday movement increases.

Learn which muscles are involved in the core and how to connect them to movement as well as increase their strength.

This mini series is suitable for everyone, from beginners to advanced practitioners. No experience necessary. We will gently move through different exercises each week to give you a good understanding on how your core functions with movement and improves posture.
This series will be taught by Lynne Jenkins  as part of our Wednesday night mini series classes.  It will be held from 6:00 – 7:15 pm, May 1st, 8th and the 15th.

You can use your regular class pass or drop in for any of the sessions.

Please contact the studio directly at 613-451-2891 or email info@suryadaya.ca, if you have any questions. Sign up is not necessary, but please come early to settle into the space.

Mindfulness Meditation and Relaxation Session

As a follow-up to Amber’s mindfulness meditation and movement series she will be holding monthly meet-ups to support you to stay inspired in your practice. You don’t have to have completed the series to attend these sessions, they are for anyone wanting to sit in stillness and be supported in community to explore these practices.   The next session will be held on Wednesday, April 24th, from 6:00 – 7:15 pm.

These sessions are by donation, and will be in support of our SEVA fund, which helps to support local families and organizations we believe in. No donation is to small, our priority is making this space to come together to practice, accessible for everyone.

We get really caught up in the busyness of life. We are living in an overstimulated world and if we don’t take time to stop, decompress and process then we start to fall apart. What does mindfulness even mean? In simple terms, it means to pay attention to your present moment. It’s a practice that brings us back home to ourselves, underneath all the distractions life presents to us. In this class we are gently reintroducing ourselves back to our breath and finding a path underneath the incessant merry-go-round of our thoughts. When we don’t give ourselves a chance to be quiet and integrate the experiences of our life then we begin to live in a chronic state of stress, we can move through our lives on auto-pilot, and the effects are profound. We see it in our relationships, in the way we communicate, in our health, in our sleep, in our overall energy levels. By simply slowing down we start to reverse these effects and become healthier, happier and calmer. Please join us as we journey back into the simple experience of a deep full breath, some quiet time in stillness, and gentle slow mindful movement.

Kundalini Yoga for Digestion

Please join us Wednesday nights, March 20th – April 3rd,  from 6 – 7:15pm.   Simonne will be offering a spring mini series focused on digestion and yoga practices to help detoxify our bodies.

In our current culture we are bombarded with stress and over stimulation which has a profound effect on our digestive system, our mood and emotions, our energy levels and our organs of elimination.  We ask so much of our bodies and often don’t give ourselves enough time to nurture and revitalize our systems that help us to thrive.  In this three week series, we will use the practice of Kundalini yoga to strengthen and nurture our digestive system, an important component to our overall health and vitality.    We will learn how the digestive system works and  specific techniques and postures that can help keep it functioning at it’s very best.  The series is suitable for all levels of practice, from beginner to advanced.

Each class will be stand alone but participating in all 3 weeks is highly recommended.
