Karma Class Friday, November 22nd, for the McComb Family, at Heritage Community Fitness Centre in CP

Join us this Friday at Heritage Fitness Community Center in CP for a fundraiser for the McComb family.

Many of you will remember the fundraiser we hosted earlier this year for Lilly, a young girl in our community fighting cancer. We partnered with Heritage and held two classes for the family.  That fundraiser made a world of difference for Lilly and her family, and we are so grateful that Heritage Fitness in Carleton Place is holding another event to help support them through this incredibly challenging time.

Led by Gillian White, this 75-minute Yin and Massage class will pamper you as you are guided through a yin yoga practice and there will be extra supports (teachers and RMT’s) in the class gently providing massage and adjustments that encourage you to sink deeper into the poses and release layers of tension.

Expand into relaxation as you end your week and give back to a family in need in your community.

Instructor: Gillian White
Date: Friday, November 22nd
Time: 7:30pm – 8:45pm
Donation Options: $5, $20, $35, or $35

The money raised during the event helps ensure Lilly is continued to be supported by her mother full-time without making the additional sacrifices that become necessary with an illness of this magnitude.  We are also collecting donations on behalf of this event at our studio in Almonte.  100% of all money raised will be going directly to the family.

Register in person at Heritage Fitness at 2 Costello Drive, Carlton Place, 613-253-2112, or online using the heritage fitness app

Karma class for a local family

Recently I was honoured and privileged to co-facilitate the fit club for girls for 9 – 12 year olds at Heritage Fitness in Carleton Place.  Every time a new session of this amazing program begins, I can’t help but feel emotional as I prepare for the weeks ahead – understanding what this program is truly all about.  It’s giving girls a safe space to share their ideas, talk about their problems, explore themselves through cooperative games, yoga, mindfulness techniques, creative expression, self-esteem activities and activities that challenge their bodies and their minds.  The foundation of this program is helping to support the understanding that these girls matter – everything about them matters.  As the weeks unfold, the bonds that are created are beautiful to watch and I’m always sad when we enter our last session of the 9 weeks.  This past program was especially sad, as a little girl shared with the group about another little girl in her class was going through a serious illness.  That little girl goes to school with my son.  Tears were shared in the sacred circle of these exceptional young women and we talked about that experience, as well as empathy.  We also shared a beautiful meditation, imagining that sweet little 10 year old healthy and happy and whole.  Please join us at Surya Daya, on Sunday March 31st, from 2:30 – 3:30 for our next karma class for this little girl and her family.  We will do some gentle light movement in Lilly’s honour and join together for that same meditation, followed with a nourishing relaxation.  The class will be by donation (suggested amount is $10) and 100% of proceeds will go to Lilly and her family to help support them through this time.  We hope you can join us.  It hurts my heart when  I learn  of the number of cases of childhood illness in our own little community.  This class will be child friendly.  Our Karma Yoga donation box will be out, on the shelf above the props, if you would like to contribute but are unable to attend the class, as we are accepting donations on the family’s behalf.

Yours in kindness, and with much love and gratitude

Amber
